Chaplaincy services

Our main aim at Cranbrook state School is for our chaplaincy service to contribute to school welfare. Chaplains work proactively to build relationships with students as the basis for enhancing students’ wellbeing, rather than simply responding to problems that arose.

We aim for our chaplain to be accessible and approachable and students able to initiate consultation with chaplains. We also aim for students to see them as different from other school staff, as ‘neutral’ or ‘non-aligned’, partly because they did not have teaching or disciplinary roles.

Our chaplain approaches welfare holistically, working with families and communities, as well as individual students. They approach their task flexibly according to the needs they identified within the school.

Religious instructions in school hours

Religious instruction classes are available at the school.

The faith groups who provide approved instructors to deliver religious instruction are:

Arrangements for programs Participating faith group/s Program of instruction authorised by the faith group
Cooperative program All the major Christian denominations Christian religious education - Access Ministries

Students are allocated to these classes in accordance with the information provided on the completed Parent notice for Religious Instruction forms. These forms are available from the office. This information remains operational unless the parent informs the school otherwise in writing.

Students who are not participating in religious instruction will undertake other supervised activities.
